Christmas on Third Tree Lighting in Naples

Third Street South will be kicking off the 2014 Holiday Season tonight as Mayor John Sorey lights the official Christmas tree. Enjoy live music, a guest appearance from Santa, and…SNOW!  Enjoy the first snowfall in Naples which it continues to do every evening until Christmas.

Kick off the holidays on Third Street South in Naples

5:30pm – Christmas on Third begins with holiday music
5:45pm - Santa, Fairy Snow Mother and Snow King and Queen, families, friends and visitors gather around the tree anxiously awaiting the lighting of the Christmas Tree.
6:20pm – Mayor Sorey throws the switch to light the Third Street Christmas tree and officially starts the holiday season.
6:20pm – As the Mayor lights the tree, the Fairy Snow Mother summons her powers and snow begins to fall on Third Street South
8:00pm – After the initial snow flurries subside, a second snow begins to fall.
9:00pm – Santa must leave in order to get back to the North Pole so he can check in on the elves at Santa's Workshop and have a mug of hot chocolate with Mrs. Claus before going to bed for the night. 
Third Street South is located 6 miles south of the Hilton Naples Hotel.

Fall for Fun at the 5th Annual Stone Crab Festival which will be happening this weekend, October 24, 25, and 26th. This weekend will provide days full of:

Rocktoberfest 10 Miler– Sunday, October 19th, 2014 at 7:00am at North Collier Regional Park
The 4th Annual Rocktoberfest 10 Miler will feature a Rock n' Roll and Octoberfest theme to create the ROCKTOBERFEST 10 MILER. This rare distance course is one of the only 10 milers in the entire state of Florida and the only one in South Florida. The 2 person relay category is another fun option that will have 2 runners each racing a 5 mile section of the course.

Naples Concert Band – Sunday, October 19th, 2014 at 2:00pm at Cambier Park
The Naples Concert Band will open its 43rd season with a Concert in the Park on Sunday, October 19 at 2:00 p.m. The concert will feature three powerhouse soloists including Glenn Basham, concert master of the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, who will perform the flashy violin solo Csardas by Monti as well as show off his harmonica chops in Norman Tailor’s Three Sketches; and Craig Greusel, baritone, and Lisa Federico, soprano, who will perform many of the memorable songs from the Broadway play Les Miserables. Sousa Marches, The Overture to Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, Ravel’s Bolero, and Highlights from the Disney movie Frozen are some of the selections that will round out the program.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early with lawn chairs and blankets for seating. Admission is free, with donations appreciated.

EVP Pro, Amateur, & Juniors National Championships Saturday, September 20th, 2014 at Marco Island Marriott

Experience this EVP Pro, Amateur, and Juniors Series Event featuring professionals from across the nation.

Format: Pool play followed by Single Elimination Playoffs, Pro may be double elimination with Olympic Crossover if there are enough teams. Divisions may be combined, and divisions may be split into Gold and Silver Playoffs if there are enough teams that register. A/B divisions may be split if there are enough teams that register. Juniors divisions are based on athlete age at the day of the event. For example; If both athletes on the team are 12 years old or younger, they may compete in the 12U age division

Rules: Wilson Beach Volleyball will be used with beach volleyball rules; contact with any part of the net is a net violation. A block counts as 1 of your team’s 3 contacts. After a simultaneous joust, 3 more contacts are allowed. No open hand tips, no open hand serve receive. Please promote clean handsets, and call hands tight.
